Sólveig has a BMus degree in Classical harp performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff (teacher: Caryl Thomas) and an MMus degree in Historical Performance from the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen (teacher: Margit Schultheiß.) She has sung to her own accompaniment on the harp since receiving her first harp lesson with Megha Morganfield at the age of 10.
